Onam Sadhya with Chef Marina Balakrishnan at Jolie’s, Mumbai
Marina Balakrishnan is bringing her unique palate and unmistakable flair to the Onam sadya at Jolie’s this weekend. Jolie’s, a design-forward members-only club located in Worli, is opening up their doors to the Goya community for Onam. Expect a lavish sadhya lunch with 30+ items on the banana leaf. The pickle on the ela is a kathakali dance performance, bringing all that drama from God’s Own Country to this city by the sea.

The Onam Sadya by Podi & Spice at Magazine St Kitchen
Tresa Francis is bringing Podi & Spice’s special sadya menu to Mumbai, specially curated for Onam. Paired with the warm hospitality of Divya Prabhakar, this is a sadya to wear your mundu to. The meal will be served traditionally, on a banana leaf. But in a hat-tip to the regions of Kerala that enjoy a side of meat touchings, there will also be fish fry and chicken available.

DELHI
Mahabelly Onam Sadhya 2023 
Mahabelly celebrates Onam with the same panache and generosity of the great king Mahabali that they are named after. Serving one of the most extensive sadyas in Delhi (23 dishes, and 1500 sadyas over 3 days), Onam is the high point of the season. “People get very emotional about the sadya here; it is something they wait for all year. So we treat it with the utmost respect and care,” says restaurateur Thomas Fenn.

This is Mahabelly’s 9th Onam, and the sadya will be available over 3 days, for dine-in, takeaway and delivery.

This weekend, Mahabelly is serving up a unique ‘special sadya’, featuring some unexpected delights: Fish Pickle, Onakka Shrimp Roast, Meen Peera, Clam Fry, and more. This sadya is open only to the 5 winners of last week’s contest. More on the special sadya and its place in Kerala history, coming up on Goya next week. 

Onasadya by Seeking Roots
Seeking Roots, by Ambika Johar and Sania Naqvi, is a farm-to-table catering kitchen, focussed on artisanal breads and regional cuisines. This Onam season, they partner with Rekha Natarajan of Beetroute Kitchen to create a unique experience of flavours, ingredients and cultures for their community of diners in Delhi.

The sadya features 23 dishes over lunch and dinner, from the 26th to the 29th August 2023, offering Delhi residents, Malayalis and non, a chance to sample the flavours and aromas of the Kerala sadya. Expect a banana leaf meal that is simple, fresh and delicious; a lavish feast that will inexplicably leave you feeling light and content. Only available as delivery.

Grand Onasadhya at Savya Rasa
The Grand Onasadhya at Savya Rasa aims to please, with 30 traditional dishes. The sadhya is also available for takeaway and comes in an elegant box that includes an ela for laying out the sadhya, making sure your experience at home is truly special. For those who want just a tiny taste of Onam, both the pazha pradhaman and the palada pradhaman are sold separately.

BANGALORE
Onam Community Table at NJH Malaikal
The lovely folks at NJH are hosting an Onam Community Table in collaboration with Chef Gautam Krishnakutty, and home chefs, Smita Max Martin, and Shruti George. It goes without saying that this feast will include non-vegetarian delights from Chef Krishnakutty, including aila (mackerel) curry, and beef fry. The table will be hosted at NJH Malaikal farm, in a beautiful rural setting, and will feature live music by Loysum.

Grand Onam Satya 2023 at Salt Mango Tree
Malayalis in Bangalore are no strangers to Salt Mango Tree, serving up some of the best food from ‘naadu’ in the city. One of the most popular destinations for onam in the ooru, Salt Mango Tree’s sadya has been perfected to an art form. With more than 25 items, this sadya is available for both dine-in and take-away.

Onam Sadya at Alila
SpiceStudio, the coastal restaurant at Alila, is serving a traditional sadya helmed by Chef Pradeep Rao for lunch on 26th August. It features all the beloved classics, including boli, to end the meal. With limited spots and a single service, we recommend you book early! Along with the sadya, the restaurant will be celebrating the harvest festival with a pookalam, onakalikal, and even a thattu kada high tea.
